The R550 is a Robinson R44 converted to fly without a pilot. Useful load is 1,102lbs, flight time is around three hours, and cruise is 110 knots. The engine-driven alternator is the part that matters most: it supplies continuous electrical power for demanding payloads in a way battery-powered aircraft cannot sustain. That makes the R550 useful as a cargo and casualty evacuation aircraft, a communications relay, a launch platform for other systems, and a test bed for payloads too heavy for a small drone.
